lot n°50, Shepard Fairey, Bob Marley slave driver – 2015
Shepard Fairey was often inspired by photographic images to create his works. For his portrait of Bob Marley, an image of Dennis Morris was used. He had already collaborated with him for the exhibition “SID: Superman is dead around the punk figure of Sid Vicious”. The intensity in Bob Marley's face in this photograph seduced Shephard. The work speaks for itself without any need for further analysis.
